Speaking Willow is a multi-media sound sculpture in the shape of a weeping willow tree, 18 feet high, which adorns the entrance of the museum. The tree sculpture is fabricated from hollow steel tubes. The trunk and branches carry data cables inside that emerge from the structure and hang vertically, slowly swaying with the wind and interacting with visitors as they’re movement is visually sensed. The bells light up and speak hundreds of languages to the visitor as they walk around it canopy.

Sean Billy Kizy led this project as a lead Project Manager at UAP Polich Tallix. It was an honor to work with UAP and Public Art Fund to realize such an incredible artwork.
